The app and your files
LocalEditor edits files already stored on your Mac. It does not take ownership of them, upload them, or lock them into a proprietary format. You remain responsible for your files, folders, backups, and any material you create or edit with the app.
Accounts & trials
A LocalEditor account exists only for login, trials, licences, purchase recovery, and registered-Mac management. Keep access to your login method secure and do not use someone else's account.
A new eligible account receives one 14-day trial on one registered Mac. Logging out, switching Macs, reinstalling the app, or deleting and recreating an account does not restart that trial. Separate Beta invitation licences may have their own expiry date, shown in the app.
What a licence covers
A LocalEditor purchase grants you a licence to use the app on one active Mac at a time unless that licence explicitly states another limit. It does not transfer ownership of the software or source code. You may move the licence by deactivating the old Mac and registering the new one. See Help for activation and recovery.
Your account and licence are for your use. Do not share, resell, redistribute, or use them to give another person access. Beyond that, you may use LocalEditor for personal, commercial, or client work.
Purchases & refunds
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for every purchase and handles billing, tax, and refunds directly under its own Buyer Terms. If something's wrong with your order, start there — or email publicnikhilwork@gmail.com and we'll help sort it out.
Deleting your account
Deleting your LocalEditor account permanently removes its login identity and registered Macs. It does not delete files on your Mac, refund a purchase, or invalidate the purchase itself. A deleted account cannot recover its licence automatically; contact support with proof of purchase to link it to a new account. The limited records retained for trial enforcement and purchase recovery are explained in the Privacy Policy.
Access & availability
LocalEditor may need to check the licensing service periodically. It can continue editing for its stated offline allowance after a successful check. When a trial or time-limited licence expires, a licence is revoked, or that offline allowance ends without verification, the app becomes read-only. Your files stay on disk and remain available in other apps.
We may suspend an account or licence used fraudulently, shared or resold in breach of these terms, or used to interfere with the service. We may also change or discontinue online account features as the product develops, while preserving the local-file boundary described above.
No warranty
LocalEditor is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. It's actively developed by one person — things can break. Your files are always plain, standard formats on your own disk, readable and editable in any other app regardless of what LocalEditor does, which is the whole point of building it this way.
Questions & changes
Email publicnikhilwork@gmail.com with questions or account and licence problems. These terms may change as LocalEditor grows; the date above always reflects the latest version. Continued use after an updated version takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
